Stamp, Not a Stamp

I saw these two invitations for Jamie's birthday party by the front door this morning. They were under a bag of trash, and I guessed that is why Jamie forgot to put them in the mailbox. I got them out and was going to make sure they were more visible when I realized that the stamp looked a little funny. Last night Jamie wrote the addresses on the envelopes which I made sure were correct. I told her to put stamps on them. She asked me a question that only makes sense now. She said, "Where are my stamps? I can only find yours."

Saturday's Baseball Game

This past Saturday was Ethan's first game when the weather was hot. It was really tough for those kids to play in the hot weather. By the time it got to the 6th inning, they didn't care weather they won or lost. They just wanted the game to be over with.
Ethan went 2 for 4 in this game. He played some outfield and some catcher. We lost the game by 2 or 3 points. I can't remember what the actual score was but I know that we gave them at least 3 points by we did or didn't do.

The Art of Cinnamon

Wendy called me last week about this one. Apparently Jamie, Katherine and Ethan forgot to put up a large container of cinnamon after making cinnamon toast one morning. Wendy was in the bedroom working on her homework while Jeffery, the mess maker, Hopper took this opportunity to express his creativity with the cinnamon. He really got into his work by covering himself from head to toe.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!

Yes, finally we one a game! It was a great game. I think the final score was 17-15. Ethan did a great job. He went 4 for 4 at bat and had 3 RBI's. He has really gotten the batting down. He does a pretty good job at 3rd base, too. He surprises me on fielding grounders. One time during this game, there was a situation in that there were runners at 1st and 2nd base and he had to tag 3rd base if the ball was hit to him. Well, the ball was hit to him, but slightly to the 2nd base side. He moved over and snagged the ball, but he didn't believe he had it so he checked on the ground for it. That was enough time to move the runner over to 3rd safely. He is still playing in the dirt at third and watching moths, candleflies and whatever other bug that can fly. In time, he will understand why I am always telling him to pay attention.

Jamie played her game tonight and will have one tomorrow. She did okay. She didn't hustle enough tonight so the coach took her out several times. One time she got in and was caught not hustling to get the ball away from the opposing team and was yanked after 5 minutes of being on the field. She was frustrated when she had to go back to the bench. Katherine will have a game tomorrow, too. She and Jamie will play at 9 AM and Ethan will play at 10 AM.

Here is a video of Ethan batting two games ago.

Baseball Game/Soccer Game updates

Katherine had a soccer game today. In the first half of the game they were very lethargic and didn't score. The second half was a different story. The actually were very aggressive and Katherine's cousin, Sarah, scored for the first time this season. They all did well. It was a more exciting half. Our neighbor, Joe, came to watch her play.

Ethan also played an 11:30 AM game. This game was very good to watch. Not like the other one we had Thursday night. We lost that one 23-0. Our team only got to bat one time around. Our defense wasn't that great as you can probably tell. Today's game was a little better. Ethan got 2 hits and got another but he hit it to the first baseman and was tagged out before he got there. Ethan had a really good day. The first hit was a line drive between the SS and 3B. On this particular hit, he drove in a run. The second hit was slightly up the middle and he drove in 2 runs. He has a really good stance and is swinging the bat really well. I still have to work on him as a catcher to make sure he gets every ball and pop ups. Anyway that is the way the season is going so far. Baseball we are 0-5, Soccer Katherine we are 0-3, Jamie we are 0-3.

Jamie played her game last week. She lost, too. Her opponents were very good. Jamie played well. With more practice she should get better and better.

Ironbirds Lost again

Well, Ethan's team lost again. There was a bright spot to it though. We only lost 11 - 9. Ethan was 2 for 2 and he had two singles and a run. His cousin, Brock, was in the lineup right before him. It was pretty neat to see Brock bat then Ethan. Every game we see improvement on the team so hopefully we can win one and get on a roll.

Ethan was so funny last night playing catcher. He got to where he was calling the strikes before the umpire. He would hold his fingers up for the strikes and call them out after they swung and struck out. At one point, Wendy and I looked at each other and just laughed.

Matt will enjoy this. There was a ball hit to the right field - where brock was playing. Unfortunately, brock was busy playing in the dirt when the ball was hit. I believe there was 2 men on base. So after brock finally figured out that the ball was in his area, he threw it to the first base and it dribbled all the way close to home and the batter scored. The pitcher and first baseman were trying to get it to tag the runner, but were just too anxious that they couldn't grab the ball.

A is for Algebra!

I got an A on my second test in this Abstract Algebra class I'm taking at UAB. It was the lowest A possible, but I am thrilled! I still have another test and a comprehensive final so it's not over yet, but it's close.

Game Day 4/4/09

Ethan, Katherine and Jamie all had games today. Wendy and Jeffery went to Katherine's game and I went to see a little of Jamie's game. She was just up field from Katherine and then I went to see Ethan's regular season game. Everybody lost on game day. Katherine and Jamie's team got shut out. Ethan's team lost 15-11. Ethan went 1 for 3.

Ethan's coach has ethan batting very unorthodox until the third time when I convinced him to let ethan hit with his elbow up and that's when he got a hit (single). Here are a few pictures of Katherine and Ethan's games.

Katherine chasing after the ball.

Here is the stance before we change it. His elbow is a little higher than the coach wants it to be and lower than I want it to be.
Ethan loves playing catcher. This was his first game to do it. He was playing third but got very bored over there.
Here's Jamie in her uniform. She had a game last night but the pictures were bad and blurry.
