New School Year - Again

Today was Julie and Nathan's first school day of the year. They were so excited to go to school. Nathan finally got a new backpack (that he loves so much) and new shoes (that he loves so much). Last week Julie got a backpack at the thrift store in Leeds then yesterday, Wendy took them to the same thrift store and Nathan found his backpack.

The had orientation last Friday and met their teachers and found their lockers. Nathan tried to open his locker but failed to memorize his combination. Wendy thought she had it on her phone and even took a picture of it, but it disappeared. Still not sure why it wasn't there. So, Nathan wasn't able to open his locker until today. We'll see how that went when he gets home from school.

We saw that Julie was wearing her open toed shoes and that was not part of the clothing standards. We told her about it but she says that it will be okay - she's a rebel!

By the way, there was a huge storm this morning that rocked our house and the cedar tree was dripping this morning as we waited for the bus.

Ethan's Engagement

This past weekend was a pinnacle point for Ethan and Isabel. Ethan had been planning this for several weeks. He had planned to go to the botanical gardens in Birmingham and while walking, find the appropriate spot to propose to Isabel. Isabel's aunt was supposed to be concealed and take the pictures when this huge event happened.

After they spent some time taking pictures and basking in the moment, they planned to eat dinner at Longhorns Restaurant in Gardendale. They were joined by her mom and siblings and also by Wendy and me. I am sure Ethan has a lot more details about this event if asked.

Preparing for a mission

I wanted to make a quit insert of Jeffery prepping for his mission. He is a little over 2 weeks away from entering into the MTC (missionary training center). The first week is Home MTC and the following week is Provo MTC. Talking with Jeffery, he is a little nervous but anxious at the same time.

So far, he has bought some luggage and other small things such as socks. He still needs to get slacks and other items. He is also banking on getting some items in England rather than buying it here. He now has his passport and is going through the process of getting his VISA. He will need to travel to Atlanta, Georgia to complete the process for that though. He has a checklist of the things that he needs to acquire or consider acquiring. He also has been in communication with Ethan about specifics since Ethan served in London England not long ago.

It is weird but cool to see (2) siblings serve in the same country. We are excited for him and can't wait to see how he progresses as he continues on this path.

We also need to get it scheduled to where he will need to be set apart by the Stake President the day before he enters into the MTC.
